
Sam Crane
Sam is well known for his acclaimed performances both at the National Theatre and in the West End. His extensive theatre credits include Winston Smith in 1984, Theo in SUNSET AT THE VILLA THALIA, William Mompesson in EYAM, and Farinelli in FARINELLI AND THE KING opposite Mark Rylance, both in the UK and on Broadway. In 2020, Sam finished a well-received run of the one man show THE RAGE OF NARCISSUS at the Pleasance Theatre.
On screen, Sam has starred as Fred Walters in DESPERATE ROMANTICS for the BBC, as well as guest roles in COBRA, CALL THE MIDWIFE, FEARLESS, THE TRIAL OF CHRISTINE KEELER, ENDEAVOUR and SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES. Sam can also be seen in season two of Netflix’s hugely successful series THE CROWN and as Michael Bretherton in TRANSATLANTIC.
Most recently, Sam played Harry Potter in the West End production of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, and Jacques-Louis David in Ridley Scott’s NAPOLEON.
Sam is also an award-winning filmmaker. His documentary film GRAND THEFT HAMLET premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival, where it won the “Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature”. It also won “Best Director- Feature Documentary” and “Raindance Maverick Award” at the 2024 BIFA Awards.
Sam can currently be seen in Series 4 of VAN DER VALK and will next be seen in the French Limited Series, THE DEAL.
