Urvashi has cast a wide range of
features. Her credits include
HOW TO BE (2008) directed by
Oliver Irving and produced by
Justin Kelly with Robert
Pattinson and Rebecca Pidgeon,
SHOOT ON SIGHT (2007) with Brian
Cox, Naseeruddin Shah, Greta
Scacci, and Om Puri, THE PASSAGE
(2007) with Stephen Dorff
produced by Lynette Howell for
Silverwood Films whose previous
picture was nominated for a 2007
Academy Award. Other credits
include DAYLIGHT ROBBERY (2007)
directed by Paris Leonti and
produced by Nick O’Hagan with
Leo Gregory, Geoff Bell, Vaz
Blackwood and Shaun Parkes, ACT
OF GOD (2007) directed by Sean
Faughnan with David Suchet, Max
Brown and Adrian Dunbar,
PERMANENT VACATION (2005)
directed by W. Scott Peake with
David Carradine and Gina
Bellman, RED MERCURY (2005)
directed by Roy Battersby and
produced by Michael Wearing and
Peter Ansorge with Peter
Postlethwaite, Stockard
Channing, Juliet Stevenson and
Ron Silver. She cast EXITZ
(2004) directed by Laurens
Postma starring Malcolm
McDowell.
Urvashi Chand read Philosophy at
London University and then
studied acting at the Central
School of Speech and Drama.
She went on to direct fringe
theatre in London before working
with Danielle Roffe in casting
on a number of films including
Steven Herek’s ROCKSTAR (1999)
for Warner Brothers, Mike and
Jack Binder’s THE SEARCH FOR
JOHN GISSING (2000 USA), GOODBYE
CHARLIE BRIGHT (1999) directed
by Nick Love and LAGAAN (2001)
the first Indian film to be
nominated for an Oscar.
Urvashi also worked for Impact
Pictures on a number of projects
including the film RESIDENT EVIL
(2001) with Milla Jovovich and
has devised and directed two
plays which both have had over
100 performances in Bombay. She
cast NETAJI: THE LAST HERO by
the critically acclaimed Indian
director Shyam Benegal.
Urvashi has a number of features
in development including Richard
Stanley’s VACATION and Forward
Films LOVE MARRIAGE. She has
also cast for THE BILL. Her
episodes, in 2008 were nominated
for a BAFTA and won a Royal
Television Society award, and in
2009 have been nominated for a
Rose D’or in Switzerland.
She is has recently worked with
director Menhaj Huda on his
newest feature and with BAFTA
rising star award winner Noel
Clarke on his latest film,
produced by Alexandra Stone
(Franklyn / Fastfood Nation /
Young Adam) and with BAFTA
nominee Richard Hawkins on his
latest project. Urvashi has just
finished casting 4321 for
Universal Pictures, produced by
Damon Bryant (Flashbacks of a
Fool) and directed by Noel
Clarke. |
